Watercolor: medium of the mood

Fine, fine, after all your nagging (I've constructed a perfect blog audience in my brain who do everything you guys don't! Like commenting. Or nagging me. Pft.) about my newsy blog posts I decided to do a graphic designy, fine artsy, photography (damn this one doesn't work) post. and it's my favourite artsy topic: watercolour.

Watercolor is like liquid mood: it splats, slips, melts and flow like emotions do.

Water is your tool: your eraser, your thinner, your persuasion and freedom. Here's a few artists I found on Behance.com who spill the mood beautifully. All copyright reserved by the artists (Dima, Milos, Jonathan, Rolandas and Veronika, I hope you consider this post a token of my appreciation for your work rather than an infringement of your copyright!).

Dima Ribus

This Russian artist makes paper absorb tension and movement.

 Milos Radoicic

Milos is a New Yorker, a Photographer and a Graphic Designer using all his skills by applying water paint ON TOP of his photos. Nice.

"Walking down the streets of New York's Soho and Noho, Little Italy and Chinatown, feeling melancholic. I snapped some photos with interesting crops and played with a texture of spilled watercolor, juxtaposing perfectly to match my mood. "

Jonathan Meyer

Jonathan Meyer, an American final year graphic design student can do something no scientist has: the man pins down the colors that splash from music, down on paper, just so we can see what we always knew. Thanks Jonny

Rolandas Ivanauskas

This Lithuania artist just packs a pic to the brim with a nostalgic, dreamy, hopeful, cosy-warm atmosphere. Captivating.

Circus of the Human Heart

I like the original better!

Everyone can Fly

Where are you?

"Above the clouds we will meet again"

Veronika Kalacheva

Everyday wonders painted with nothing, color and water. This Russian artist can capture the rain, the busyness of a day, a moment on the street side, light spilling through window, the tug of an arm in the way she leaves strokes en drops of paper untouched.
