Getting to Know Ants

Anthony Stone, nicknamed Ants, is a 28-year-old third-round final year Media and Journalism student and my classmate. This media professional-to-be has forthright insights on the industry, a plot of to reveal irony in everything (check out his blog, http://ironyineverything.blogspot.com ) and a set of creative skills that'll make it oh-so-easy to do so.

Battle Parler Francias

After high school, Ants earned himself a diploma in Film and TV. There after he set off to attain a degree in Media and Journalism. In his final year he didn't pass French, nor did he the following year.

After taking a study break, Anthony is back to victor over parler Francias. Fortunately for me, he was forced to take another journalism subject - which I have this year as well. That's how we became buddies.

Born to Create Things

I prodded Anthony on his greatest purpose in life, he answered me plainly: "I believe I was put on this earth to create things". Besides journalism, film and TV, he committed to music. He played in the Cape Town based band called Quin.

When I asked him why he loves creating things, his very relaxed and mild presence was momentarily lit afire on a recollection of playing music in front of an audience. "It's the most...you cannot beat that feeling of people enjoying what you've created...you can't beat it.", he said.

Moving People

Ants believes that most people get stuck in stereotypical media-induced ways of seeing. "I want to move people. With music obviously physically, but with film, I want to move the way they think", he says. Ants uses baring ironic truths about people, as a tool to express the alternative views to change the way people think.

This Cape Townian points out however unpleasant it can be for people to experience ironic truths about themselves that it opposed the bigotry effects of commercialized media in the long run.

Check out Ants refreshing motive for choosing a media career in media and the golden-thread message, in all his work, in this video clip.
